Post-Doctoral Research Fellowship - “Airborne: Pollution, Climate Change, and Visions of Sustainability in China”

A position as Postdoctoral Research Fellow is available at the Department of Culture Studies and Oriental Languages of the University of Oslo, within the research project “Airborne: Pollution, Climate Change, and Visions of Sustainability in China”.
The position is available for a 2-year period starting January 2015.

ASC-IIAS Joint Fellowship Programme

the International Institute for Asian Studies and the African Studies Centre in Leiden jointly offer a fellowship, which is intended for scholars in the field of African-Asian relations.
This fellowship aims to attract researchers whose work is informed by current theoretical debates in the social sciences and humanities over global connectivities and who are able to critically engage with shifting paradigms in “area studies” beyond the ways in which these have traditionally been conceived in the West.

Tenured/tenure track Faculty Positions Early China
NYU Shanghai

NYU Shanghai is currently inviting applications for one or more tenured or tenure-track appointments at any level (assistant, associate, or full professor). Scholars should have expertise in two or more of the following fields, all pertaining to Early China from the Shang to the Tang dynasty: (a) archeology and material culture; (b) history and geography; (c) philosophy, religion and textual traditions; (d) paleography (excavated texts), epigraphy, and linguistics. Successful candidates will have excellent reading of Classical Chinese and an emphasis on interdisciplinarity. 


Position:
Professorship in "Society and Culture of Modern China"

The Leipzig University Faculty of History, Arts and Oriental Studies seeks to fill a W2- Professorship in "Society and Culture of Modern China".

The holder of this position will be affiliated with the Institute of East Asian Studies. Responsibilities include research and teaching with regard to modern Chinese society and culture, as well as coordination of the Institute’s modern Chinese language programme. In addition to excellent competence in the Chinese language we expect several years of relevant experience in teaching and research.

Australian National University, Australian Centre of China in the World

The Australian National University is one of the foremost institutions in the world outside of China for research and teaching about China. The Australian Centre on China in the World (CIW) is a major initiative at the ANU, supported by research intensive funding from the Commonwealth Government. It enhances ANU’s existing capabilities to create an integrated, world-leading institution for Chinese Studies and the understanding of China on a global scale. The Centre takes a broad, holistic view and engages multidisciplinary expertise in areas including Chinese thought, culture, history, politics, society, environment, economics and foreign and strategic policy. The Centre is seeking to recruit highly talented, motivated and ambitious Postdoctoral Fellows to join a world-class group of researchers. The successful applicants are expected to contribute towards one or more of CIW’s research themes: China Everyday, China Justice, China Numbers, China Texts, China Time, China Urban/Rural, China Australia and China Global.

Research position at the doctoral level at the University of Zurich

The University Research Priority Program (URPP) Asia and Europe of the University of Zurich explores exchanges and encounters between Asia and Europe that have taken and continue to take place in the areas of culture, law, reliion and society. It promotes research by junior graduate scholars at both doctoral and post-doctoral levels within a structured and interdisciplinary research environment.
The University invites applications for 1 research position at the doctoral level involving a social-scientific orientation and focusing on contemporary themes and issues.
The position is assigned to one of the following URPP Asia and Europe research fields: "Concepts and Taxonomies", "ENtangled Histories", "NOrms and Social Order(s)". THe applications should submit and original research project relating to the research questions of one of the research fields.

Call for papers
Ming Qing Studies 2015

The new edition of Ming Qing Studies 2014 is going to be published by Aracne Publishers in Fall 2014.
Applicants are encouraged to submit abstracts for the next issue of Ming Qing Studies 2015. The contributions should concern Ming-Qing China in one or few of its most significant and multifaceted aspects, as well as on East Asian countries covering the same time period. All articles will be examined by our qualified peer reviewers.
